Hello,

I am using TortoiseSVN 1.6.16, Build 21511 - 64 Bit on my Windows 7 SP1, and I am not sure if this is a bug.

Here is the situation:
I am a Unity3D user, and I have to wait for hours when I commit or update a very large .unity file wih TortoiseSVN. The file is about 100M or so.

Can you guys let me what happend when a very large file is committed or updated?
I will appreciate it very much if there are any great suggestions.

1.6.16 was released in June 2011 - over three years ago. I think it may be
time to update.

Simon,

After tried many different version, we find out that 1.6.16 is more compatible for our project, so all engineers in our project are using it. If we update the SVN version, that means we have to deal with many new problems which might happen on hundreds of engineers.

Well, 1.6.16 is a very old version, it is not realistic for you guys to change the behavior of it for us. So I was thinking, maybe I can find out what is happening when I am committing or updating, then I can solve the problem by setting the file format of *.unity file or some other working around. Can you give me some hints? Which factor takes the most time?

Thanks, Chao

Hi Chao,

Have you tried using the subversion command line client? If it behaves the
same way then the problem you are having is common to all clients using the
subversion library. I suggest asking on the subversion users mailing list
as there are many more people reading that list and someone may have seen
the same issue.
